Client: The Ryder Cup
Project: 45 Days to Go
Territories: Global
To mark 45 days to go until the Ryder Cup, our brief was to take over New York City, a monster project that had us racing all over the Big Apple to capture the hero shots and B-roll we needed, and picked up a Gold in the 2026 FOOH.com Awards!
How do you choose what landmarks to feature in a city full of them? With some serious pre-production, that’s how! Even then, you canât plan for everything , construction, closures, and the chaos of Manhattan, so our first day was spent beating our step-count PB’s on the streets, scouting every location before the main shoot.
We kicked off at dawn on a Brooklyn pier that overlooks Midtown, then worked our way across the city from the Brooklyn Bridge up to Hudson Yards, hitting 17 locations in one day (the weather tried its best to stop us, but at least it didnât snow). The next day was all about capturing B-roll and the sounds of the city from Staten Island to Central Park.
Post-production on this project could best de described at ‘layered’. We tackled the hero shots first, then built up the edit gradually with subtle golfing easter eggs and nods to the Ryder Cup which you can only really catch on repeat views, but they were worth it.
We also wanted a big finale for the edit, so we decided to fill a New York Subway car with 75,000 golf balls. We kinda kept this shot under wraps until we delivered the first cut as we wanted to keep an element of surprise to such a meticulously planned project. The risk was worth it, and it even became a standalone clip that you can see below.
This was a near-perfect adam+gary project: shooting our own live action footage (being the NYC didn’t hurt either), plenty of 3D assets to work worth, and a client who trusted us to have fun with it. Fancy making something similar? Get in touch.
