Following the success of our âMonth to Goâ drone show for the first-ever European Athletics Championships to take place in the UK, we were back with Birmingham 2026 for a new project to mark âOne Week to Goâ.
We took to the streets of Birmingham on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year, accompanied by a stellar, and very well-hydrated, troupe of supporting artists who did a brilliant job reacting to the giant imaginary equipment we told them was raining down from on high!
Undeterred by the heat, and with the city looking fabulous in the sun, we shot all the VFX plates we needed at key locations across the city centre, including the Bullring, Town Hall, Library and Birminghamâs famous canals.
It all came together in post, where we dug into our FOOH bag of tricks to bring a variety of track and field apparatus to the streets in dramatic fashion, with all 3D animation, compositing, edit and sound design completed in-house, accompanied by the brilliant Birmingham 2026 track from Abi Flynn.
Big thanks to Stuart Fenton and Liz Birchall for their support on the creative development too.
The clip has been used heavily in the lead-up to the event and beyond, helping to build excitement across the city, support ticket sales and rack up millions of views across the eventâs channels, and even catching the attention of a few media outlets along the way.
